Lakewood Fatal Shooting: Active Shooter, Family Members Died in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Homicide detectives are investigating what authorities believe may be a murder-suicide after three family members were found dead inside a Lakewood home early this morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriffโ€™s Department (LASD).

Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue at approximately 7:55 a.m., said Sheriffโ€™s Deputy Maria Lucero. The home is located in a single-family residential neighborhood just northwest of South Street and Bellflower Boulevard.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered three victims inside the home. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not yet released the identities of the victims or their relationship to one another.

LASD officials later confirmed that homicide detectives are handling the case and that the deaths are being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide. Authorities also said a suspect connected to the case was found dead in an apparent suicide several miles away from the Lakewood residence, though details surrounding that discovery have not yet been disclosed.

No additional information regarding the circumstances of the deaths, possible motives, or a timeline has been released. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities said more details will be released as they become available.
